The bicameral 21st Century Cures deal unveiled late Friday (Nov. 25) includes new funding for FDA, the National Institutes of Health and opioid abuse treatment programs; revamps some of the key drug and device approval reforms included in the earlier House-passed bill; adds myriad Medicare payment reforms; lays out comprehensive mental health policies; tackles electronic health records issues; and puts in motion a new FDA regulatory approach for regenerative medicine.
