WHO Launches Lab Network To Monitor Emerging Coronaviruses

The World Health Organization (WHO) is launching a new network to coordinate global capacity for early and accurate detection, monitoring and assessment of coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2, MERS-COV and novel viruses that may pose a threat to public health. The network includes 36 laboratories in 21 countries. In the United States, efforts will be coordinated by a laboratory at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, while labs at Emory University and Ohio State University will also participate.
