Senate FDA Spending Bill Provides $40.2 Million Food Safety Boost

The Senate Appropriations agriculture subcommittee cleared a spending bill Tuesday (May 17) that would provide $2.8 billion in discretionary funding for FDA, including a $40.2 million boost for food safety activities. This is higher than both the $33.2 million food safety increase in the House legislation, which cleared the full committee last month, and the $25.3 million increase requested in the president’s budget.
