Senate Dems: GOP Budgets Undermine Drug, Device Innovation Effort

Senate health committee Democrats said Tuesday (March 24) that if Republicans are serious about spurring medical innovation they would do away with the sequester, raise budget caps and devote more resources to tackling the problem, including boosting funds for the National Institutes of Health and FDA. Committee chair Lamar Alexander (R-TN) said he supports increasing NIH funding, but also said money already allocated to NIH could go further if efficiencies were found and more money could be found if “entitlement”...
