Medicare-Sequester Offset In Trade Bills Survives Markups In Both Chambers

Both the House Ways & Means and Senate Finance committees retained Medicare sequester pay cuts to help pay for trade legislation despite providers' efforts to strip the offset during markups this week. Providers are still trying to get the cuts removed in part due to concern over the precedent it would set, but is becoming increasingly likely the sequester language will remain in the overall bill.
