Insurers, Other Stakeholders Upset By Machine-Readable Data Proposals

Insurers and some in the drug industry are pushing back on parts of the Obama administration's plan to turn machine-readable data into accurate, searchable provider directories and drug formularies, according to comment letters submitted to CMS and made public last month. But the details those industries want to omit, like tiering and cost-sharing information, are still fiercely defended by consumer advocates who call those parts crucial for enrollees to understand their plan options.
