HHS Shifts $81 Million To Fund Zika Research, Fauci Fears Biomedical Research Fall-Out

HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell wrote to lawmakers Thursday (Aug. 11) that due to congressional inaction the agency will transfer $34 million from other NIH divisions to support Zika vaccine development, while warning the move will raid NIH efforts to cure cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and Alzheimer's disease.
