Health Spending Increases Almost 6 Percent In 2015, Drug Spending Grew Fastest

CMS and its actuaries say health care spending in the country increased 5.8 percent in 2015 primarily due to the growth of hospital and physician services, but also because of the growth in retail drug spending. Spending on retail prescription drugs increased 9 percent in 2015, which is slower than the 12.4 percent increase in 2014, but the actuaries point out in a Health Affairs article that the growth in retail prescription drug spending last year was still faster...
