Feed Group: FDA Lacks Authority To Mandate Species-Specific Antibiotic Data

The American Feed Industry Association's legal counsel told FDA that the agency lacks the legal authority to require new animal drug sponsors to report species-specific distribution estimates and such collection would not result in useful data anyway. The Animal Health Institute additionally expressed concerns that asking for species sales estimates will force companies to provide "best guesses."
