FDA Proposes Adding %DV Of Added Sugars To Nutrition Labels

Based on new scientific evidence, FDA announced Friday (July 24) it is proposing to add percent daily value for added sugars to the Nutrition Facts label on packaged foods -- updating the agency's March 2014 Nutrition Facts proposed rule. The agency says, based on a recent report from the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC), daily intake of added sugars should not exceed 10 percent of a person's daily caloric intake based on a 2,000 calorie diet.
