FDA Approves First Genetically Modified Salmon For Sale In U.S., Offers Labeling Guidance

FDA approved AquaBounty Technologies' genetically engineered AquaAdvantage Salmon Thursday (Nov. 19), making it the first genetically modified animal sold for food in the United States. AquaAdvantage Salmon is Atlantic salmon that has been modified to grow more quickly than non-genetically engineered, farm-raised Atlantic salmon.
