CMS Changes Hospital CoPs, Will Require Digital Provider Directories

CMS this year will publicly list providers it suspects of blocking the exchange of patients’ health information and who don’t list their contact information in a national system, the agency said Monday (March 9) in long-anticipated rule that governs the sharing of patient health records, and CMS will make hospitals send electronic notifications to other providers about their patients’ admissions, discharges or transfers.
