CMS Awards DME Round 2 Recompete Competitive Bidding Contracts

CMS awarded contracts for durable medical equipment competitive bidding Round 2 recompete Thursday (April 28), while touting the $3.6 billion the program has saved Medicare. The agency says the program has been going smoothly with few beneficiary complaints and no negative effect on beneficiaries' health status, though others disagree. The rebid of the first round of competitive bidding went into effect in 2009, and the second round of the competitive bidding program expanded the effort to 91 metropolitan statistical areas...
