Advocates Applaud Perdue Move To Remove Antibiotics From Chicken

Perdue Foods Wednesday (Sept. 3) said it removed all antibiotics from chicken hatcheries and that 95 percent of the company's chickens do not receive antibiotics used in humans. Advocates of reducing animal antibiotic use praised the move and pressed the company to report its use data to measure the policy's effect. FDA is conducting a phase-out of animal antibiotics for growth, with companies voluntarily removing growth indications from product labels.
